Condoms4Life Campaign Targets Gay Catholics

WASHINGTON — Gay Catholics are the target audience of a new global public education effort by Catholics For a Free Choice, the group said in a press release this week. The program attempts to counter what the organization calls “Vatican misinformation on condoms,” and also seeks to end the Catholic bishops’ ban on condoms, the news release stated. With the message, “Good Catholics use Condoms,” the program includes ads that feature two gay men and is the latest phase of the Condoms4Life campaign, according to Catholics For a Free Choice. The effort is geared to reach Catholics at risk for HIV/AIDS and, in addition to appearing in the United States, will appear in select cities in Latin America, North America, Europe and Africa. The ads state, in part: “We believe in God. We believe that sex is sacred. We believe in caring for each other. We believe in using condoms.”
