Announcing Caitlin Borgmann as Co-President for Programs and Development!
MEET CAITLIN

Caitlin Borgmann, Co-President for Programs and Development: Let me introduce myself

Catholics for Choice is thrilled to announce Caitlin Borgmann as our new Co-President for Programs and Development!  Learn more about Caitlin and her passion for our shared mission to encounter, educate, and embolden pro-choice  Catholics in her note below.

It’s great to meet you, friend.  I’m Caitlin Borgmann, the new Co-President for Programs and Development at Catholics for Choice. You’ll hear from me more in the coming weeks, but I wanted to share a quick note to introduce myself.

I grew up in the pews, in a progressive Catholic tradition where faith and social justice were inseparable. In a family of three daughters, I was guided by faithful parents and a feminist grandmother who shaped my understanding of women’s autonomy, social justice, and care for the vulnerable.

Reproductive freedom became central to my vision of gender equality, informed both by my own ability to plan my pregnancies and by awareness of the barriers many others face.

Because of my work in reproductive rights, for many years, I felt caught between Catholic spaces hostile to reproductive rights and progressive spaces skeptical of faith.

I still remember seeing an anti-abortion banner outside the church near our apartment in Manhattan and telling my husband, “I can’t go in there.”

Nobody should feel rejected or ostracized by their church, let alone before they even walk in the doors. But I know I’m not alone in that feeling.

That’s why this organization and its mission are so important — because the pro-choice Catholic majority needs to know they’re not alone.

However, we are up against a well-organized and well-funded opposition, determined to take away our rights and our healthcare. They weaponize our faith to hurt our neighbors. They act as if they represent all Catholics.

We know that’s not the case.

This work is a marathon, not a sprint, and I’m glad to have you by our side through it all.

I look forward to getting to know you and this community better in the coming weeks and months.

Thank you for your support.
